Fresenius Medical Care in Tokyo, Buzen and Inukai
Fresenius Medical Care is represented in nine locations in Japan. The head office is in Tokyo, and the company has regional offices on all four main islands: Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikogu and Kyushu. At the two production facilities in Buzen and Inukai, Fresenius Medical Care manufactures products for peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis. Altogether more than 750 employees work in Japan.
Buzen plant
Buzen is situated, like the Inukai plant, on one of the main islands of Japan – Kyushu – and is part of the prefecture Fukuoka. In Buzen, Fresenius Medical Care K.K. manufactures bag systems and solutions for peritoneal dialysis including the double-bag system stay.safe® balance and sleep.safe® solutions for automated peritoneal dialysis.
Inukai plant
Inukai is based on the island of Kyushu near the town of Oita and belongs to the prefecture of the same name. Fresenius-Kawasumi Co., Ltd. – a joint venture between Fresenius Medical Care Japan K.K. and Kawasumi Laboratories – manufactures hollow-fiber membranes at the Inukai plant. These membranes are used for the production of Fresenius Polysulfone® dialyzers, which are sold on the Japanese market.
